Mount Saint Helens, Washington- Its become a summer tradition to head up to Mount Saint Helens every year and lay under the stars for the better portion of the night. The stars have always fascinated me, and its incredible the amount of detail you are able to capture with a 25 second exposure. Currently my favorite thing in the night sky is the "Dark Horse Nebula," anyone see it? The outline of a horse is visible just to the right of the core of the Milky Way. Ever since someone pointed that out to me I cant help but see it in the night sky. From this position, the light pollution of Portland can be seen off to the right. Light pollution usually isn't great for night sky photography but occasionally I really enjoy the sunset-like glow it adds along the horizon.
