The top rim hook engages with the tip to assist with pulling an upright drum in to position on the truck. Using the truck in the horizontal position facilitates the ability to position a drum for lifting (or to accept a drum being lowered) as well as cradling a 55-gallon for pouring and dispensing purposes.
