My Sophomore year in college I took a Shakespeare class where we read all of his works and analyzed them. It would jumpstart my love for analyzing media, and lead me down the path of eventually getting my master's in Film Theory. The saying itself refers to the character Hermia in the play, who is a young rebellious woman who refuses to marry the man her father wants her to. In Shakespeare’s plays he often has the recurring trope of the woman who doesn’t obey and then is punished for being a rebel. However, in the end of this play, Hermia eventually gets a happy endin
