Like most cultivars of this genus, G. pflanzii var. albipulpa features a globose stem with uniquely rounded ribs, from which curved spines emerge from wooly white areoles. What makes this variety stand out, however, is its intense coloration – deep hues of purple with hints of olive green set this cactus apart, while the spines can include tones of black, orange, and cream in a gradient from top to bottom. Though it reaches only a few inches tall and wide at maturity, it more than makes up for its diminutive size, packing a contrasting punch on any sunny windowsill or within any container arrangement. Though bright sun will ensure the best coloration on this stunning variety, be sure to provide it adequate time to acclimate to full sunlight, to avoid sunburn on the stem.
