A modern lithograph in colors on arches paper titled “Venise en Fleurs” by French artist Andre Masson. Hand signed in pencil on the bottom right with an annotation of 114/125 on the bottom left. Published in 1975, from the Je Reve portfolio. A surreal composition with a female figure, birds, and architectural elements. From a private collection. Dimensions: 32”h x 26.25”w x 1.75”d (framed). In very good vintage condition.  Andre Masson (1896-1987) was a French artist part of the Surrealist movement. Masson shared a Paris studio with Joan Miro. His work gradually attracted the attention of the art world in New York, and Jackson Pollock is rumored to have been inspired by Masson’s Pasiphae (1944) when it was shown at Buchholz Gallery in Manhattan in 1944. In 1976, Masson’s work was the subject of a retrospective at The Museum of Modern Art in New York. He died on October 28, 1987 in Paris, France.
