Istros, also known as Histria, was an ancient Greek settlement on the western Dobrudja shore of the Black Sea. This little habitation, located around 300 miles north of Byzantium, was founded by Miletian tradesmen around 657 or 656 BCE. Istros, the earliest Greek colony on the Black Sea, endured for over 14 centuries before being abandoned in the mid-seventh century CE.
