It was the hottest of summer days, with no breeze, and teams of chiggers attacking my legs. The water was dark, mostly covered with a cloak of weeds that nearly covered the entire pond. I found a dead tree leaning into the water and I knew that a small school of bluegill would be congregating there. I caught this fellow on a small hook and sinker with a worm as bait. I used a small plank of white wood for a background, and I tapped on the fish until he spread his fins out for me.
