
Small Filipino "Bakunawa" Moon Eating Dragon Mask
A late era interpretation of Bakunawa. Bakunawa is a Filipino mythical serpent-like dragon. Bakunawa is the cause of eclipses, earthquakes, rains, and wind. Bakunawa masks can be identified by the typical demon like face with horns, large eyes, and fang like teeth. These masks are often used in traditional dances and ceremonies, as well as decorative items. The movements of the Bakunawa served as a geomantic calendar system for ancient Filipinos and were part of the shamanistic rituals of the Babaylan. -- Kombat Instruments Limited has been in the weapons and martial arts business for over 30 years.
