It was the mid 70s and the stage was set. In one corner, we had the current champ, Sony’s Betamax, an already established and consumer-accepted video tape. In the other corner, a new comer that just arrived on scene, the VHS, a cheaper, more accessible video tape. After a few years in the ring duking it out, the new comer came out victorious and Betamax video tapes never regained their home theater status.
