Use the app to set on and off schedules based on specific times, or schedule based on sunset and sunrise. Use the away mode for vacations, and the auto-shutoff feature as a countdown timer.   Additionally, this 2nd generation receptacle can be controlled with your voice, you can use Siri, Alexa, or Google to control the outlet.
