Kaiju is a Japanese word that means 'strange creature'. It is used to refer to a genre of tokusatsu or special effects entertainment. Kaiju are usually depicted as powerful giant monsters that battle other kaiju in major cities. Some famous examples of kaiju include beloved Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah. Alexander Chavez's handsome kaiju reptile has been carved from picture jasper and inlaid with turquoise spine accents. Eyes are from jet in turquoise, while fangs are adorably etched. A Zuni Sunface element from turquoise, jet and red coral is inlaid. About 2 3/4" tall, 1" wide and 1 5/8" deep.
