Sekhmet’s Eternal Rest Bronze Ushabti on a Black Onyx Beaded Necklace with Bronze Toggle

Ushabti purpose was to act as a magical substitute for the owner when the gods requested him to undertake menial tasks in the afterlif, the word ushabti is usually translated as “answerer.” During the New Kingdom (1539–1075 BCE) the figures were made to resemble the tomb owner by being fashioned in the form of a mummy bearing the owner’s name. The necklace itself is inspired by rosaries with alternating beads that can be used for meditative practice. The pendant is made of bronze and measures about 1 and an half inches or so. Measures 24” long and has a bronze toggle clasp. The beads are garnet and black onyx.
