Andy Jenkins, Scribble Scrabble, 2005
As one of the most important creative figures in skateboarding history, Andy Jenkins is a polymath: an artist, writer, graphic designer, illustrator and creative director. He began his career working as a comic artist and illustrator for popular skateboarding and BMX magazines. In the early 1990s he founded Dirt magazine with Spike Jonze and Mark Lewman. The magazine was the first attempt to bring street culture to a wide audience. In the mid 1990s, Jenkins became a full time creative and art director for Girl and Chocolate Skateboards, two brands co-founded by Spike Jonze, Mike D, Megan Baltimore, and Rick Howard. Under Jenkins's artistic direction, Girl and Chocolate became two of the most influential and artistically important skateboard brands of all time.Andy JenkinsScribble Scrabble, 2005Silkscreen and graphite on paper20 x 16 inchesEdition of 200Numbered and signed by the artistPublished on the occasion of the exhibit “Beautiful Losers: Contemporary Art and
