October 25th-26th 2025 9am-5pm  1752 W Adams Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90018. If you have already begun your signpainting journey and are looking to add Casual and Script lettering to your arsenal or develop some new styles, this workshop is for you and will focus on developing a solid understanding of Casual and Script Letter Shapes working with John King's Mike Stevens inspired alphabets. This workshop will be held at John's studio in Central LA's Artists' District over 2 days. All tools and materials will be provided however if you would prefer to bring and use your own brushes you are more than welcome to.  This workshop requires that you have some signpainting experience with basic to intermediate brush skills and familiarity with using lettering enamel. If you are a complete beginner it is recommended that you take the "Introductory to Signpainting" workshop prior to taking this one. Day 1: Casual Alphabet. Starts with an overview of Lettering Rules and Fundamentals and the relationships between Classic and Casual Letters before moving onto basic brush stroke practice, then onto creating Casual Letters. Day 2: Casual Script. Adding to the techniques acquired on Day 1 we will move onto developing script brush techniques and letter shapes. During the final stage of the day each student will create their own Supermarket Style "Show Card" using techniques learned during the workshop to take home. Refreshments: Coffee, Water and Snacks will be provided. NOTES: Please read. Lunch: You may bring your own lunch (studio has fridge and microwave) or there is a 7 Eleven across the street that sells Sandwiches and other food items. Access: Studio is on the 2nd Floor accessed via Stairs. No Elevator or Handicapped Entry facilities. No smoking in the building. Parking: Limited street parking.  Cancellation Policy: Due to the limited number of workshop places cancellations/refunds are generally not accepted unless we are able to fill your spot, however you are welcome to send someone else in your place should you not be able to attend. We reserve the right to cancel Workshops if minimum class number of 4 students is not met providing as much notice as is practically possible to all attendees.
