18th Century French Faience Fine Sauce Tureen and Cover, the factory also known as Pont-aux-Choux.  Quatrefoil-moulded with foliage and flowers, the notched cover with triple flower finial, the base on a conforming spreading foot,. Unmarked.  6" H. , approximately 8 1/2" W., approximately 4 1/4" H.  Discoloration to tureen cover. Genevieve le Duc, "Rue de Charenton Parisian White Earth in the English Manner," International Ceramics Fair Handbook, 1998, pp. 18-25, figure 3, where a similar example is attributed to Rue de Charenton, Paris, France and dated to circa 1745.  Parallels: Victoria & Albert Museum, C.554 & 554A-1909.  Provenance: Bardith Antiques Jill Fenichell, Inc., 1999 Robin Henry Ceramic Collection, New York.
