Awapuhi Red Shampoo Ginger aka Pinecone ginger plant Zingiber zerumbetListing is for 1 starter/sprouted ginger plant - grown in a 4 inch pot. Shampoo ginger is native to Hawaii. The ginger relative produces gorgeous red pinecone red flowers. The ridges of the flowers fill with a clear and fragrant liquid which naturally has saponins in it. The flower cones will refill with water if left on the plant after squeezing. It is propagated via rhizomes. Ginger is propagated thru rhizomes. I sprout rhizomes in "plant plug" sizes. ***Please note that sometimes I have to trim the leaves to fit in the shipping box which does not harm the plant- they will grow back quickly***. I like to plant ginger in grow bags to control their spread. They spread under ground thru their rhizomes. The rhizome system needs to get bigger and mature to be able to out put flower
