The seeds are said to have come out of the tomb of King Tut. I love these purple podded peas because their purple color make them easy to spot on the plant for harvest. Plants are vigorous and vines get over 8 feet in length. Pods are not super sweet like the green varieties but still good in flavor. I like to eat them raw so as to not lose the purple color during the cooking process. They look gorgeous sprinkled over a garden salad or added to crudité platters. If harvested young while the pods are still flat, it can be eaten like snow peas.
