Grecian Spring

The story of Demeter, her daughter Persephone and Demeter's brother Hades.  One day when Persephone was a little girl, she was in the meadow with friends.  The ground opened up with her uncle Hades appearing in a horse drawn chariot.  He swooped down, snatching up Persephone and plunged down into the ground into the underworld.  Demeter searched everywhere for her daughter. Crops began to die, the land became barren and sorrow began to creep over the earth.  Demeter soon learned that Hades had kidnapped with her with intentions of Persephone being his wife.  She also had learned that her other brother Zeus and approved of the kidnapping.  Zeus now worried about crops and people going hungry decided to rectify the situation.  Zeus sent Hermes, a messenger to Hades to work out a deal.   Persephone after some time had came to love the cold-blooded Hades even though she missed her mother dearly.  She willingly ate pomegranate seeds which meant she could never leave the place.  They did com
