The bright, uplifting, ethereal sound of superimposing the Minor pentatonic on the Major 7th chord is a wonderful addition to any improvisors toolbox of sounds.  As Charlie Parker said: "I realized by using the high notes of the chords as a melodic line, and by the right harmonic progression, I could play what I heard inside me."
