A very good quality English yew wood and elm low-back Windsor chair with connecting crinoline stretchers. The underside of the seat retains the maker's stenciled label which reads: Allsop; Maker; Worksop. Notts. Several Allsops from Nottinghamshire are catalogued as 19th Century chair makers in Bernard Cotton's The English Regional Chair. Could be matched up with this taller chair.
