Boxed In Original Canvas

Boxed In is a one-of-a-kind abstract painting by artist Janet Antepara. I came up with the idea for this painting after filling out the 2020 US Census questionnaire. When it was time to select my race, I realized I couldn’t identify with any of the options: White, Black or African American, American Indian or Alaska Native, or Asian. Like many Latinos, I ended up checking the "Some Other Race" box, which felt unsatisfying. It was a funny irony to emphasize race when I’ve always felt it shouldn't matter!
