The Kelly Danse was first designed by Jean-Paul Gaultier as a reinterpretation of the iconic Kelly bag that could be transformed into seven different bags. Hermès loves this idea of transformation, and multi-functionality; there is never a buckle or strap on their bags that doesn’t have a purpose. Here Hermès achieves this feat through genius simplicity: The classic body of the Kelly is made soft, and by adjusting the long single strap, it can be worn seven different ways: as a shoulder bag at two different lengths, crossbody, around the waist, as a backpack, a wristlet, or remove the strap entirely and carry it as a clutch. At first Hermès only produced this revolutionary design for a few seasons, quickly turning this unusual version of the Kelly into a rare collector’s piece.
