Carbony Celtic Winds Carbon Fiber Double Whistles
Carbony's double whistles consist of a standard whistle on the left, with a tunable, "drone whistle," on the right. The carbon fiber these whistles are made from is very durable, making a relatively thin wall possible, so overall weight is less than one might expect for a double-whistle. The sound this whistle produces is similar to that produced by hardwood instruments. Carbony's tapered-bore design helps to keep finger spacing close, and brings a nice balanced volume from the top to the bottom of the whistle's range. The anodized aluminum used for the fipple provides a very precise sound, while the tip/windway is machined from marbled ebonite, a common material for wind instrument mouthpieces. It's very durable, but also has a nice, comfortable feel against the lips. The double-whistle head slides up and down the top end of the whistle barrels, making the instrument intuitively tunable. Though the design, materials, and precision methods of crafting this instrument are all thorough
