Calcined clay (Turface MVP[R]) is a high-fired inorganic substrate that holds its particle structure and allows for excellent longterm drainage, regardless of how long or frequently you mist. Because it is a fired clay, it never breaks down or loses its structure. It takes approx. 2 lbs ~ 1Qt (0.9 kg ~ 1 Litre) of calcined clay to fill the vivarium trough. It takes an additional 2 lbs (4 lbs total) to apply a 1/2" drainage layer beneath an organic substrate.Substrate is shipped using an appropriately sized USPS flat-rate box.
