This shrub is tart and delicious and features that classic santa rosa fruit-punch-plumminess with notes of cherry, spice, and amaretto. Pairs beautifully with gin. The santa rosa plum was bred by Luther Burbank in the early 1900s. He introduced this cross between a wild american plum, japanese plum, and the apricot plum in 1907 as part of his pursuit to breed the “ideal plum.” To make a shrub soda, mix 1 part shrub to 5-6 parts sparkling water.
