The texture is a patina achieved by centuries of weather and wear.  The beautiful hand-carved stone in a form of a round wash basin with thick side rims is a pleasure to the touch.  Water flowing freely into this stone basin centuries old, is a source for renewal.  This wash basin would be perfect in a powder room with antiqued brushed brass faucets attached to the wall.  Think Amber Lewis and go from there...
