Our Preservation Signature Migration Double Flute in the key of 'G' minor (440 Hz) is handcrafted from a single piece of domestic, sustainable, Aromatic Cedar wood.  Aromatic Cedar is considered a premier tonal wood that creates an ideal balanced musical voice that's both clear on the high notes, and warm on the low notes. We love double flutes because of how magical they are in the way that they can sound like two people playing the flute together. All our Signature Series flutes utilize a unique airflow design that provides exceptional responsiveness and player control, superior amplification, which makes them ideal for a wide range of musical styles and players. Tuned in the key of 'G' minor, this flute can also be played relative major diatonic scale in the key of 'A♯'.  The flute is 21-inches (53 cm) long and at the widest part it is 7-inches (18 cm). The Migration's design motif is inspired by the continual changes of the seasons, which in many ways are signaled by the various migrating bird populations here in Patagonia, Arizona.  The flocks of migrating birds are spectacular when they take to the skies as the migrate in the winter and the spring.   The flute's engravings are inlaid with Turquoise cabochons, and the flute's body is meticulously shaped, finely sanded, hand-finished, and sealed with non-toxic Tung Oil, which is FDA approved for food contact. Our Double Flutes have two mouthpieces so you can easily switch back and forth playing them as a double flute or a single flute. Our unique A-frame body style helps to generate good sound amplification when playing the flute. Double flutes are as easy to play as the single flutes but they do take a little bit more breath. One side of flute is the melody side (the one with the fingering holes) and the other side of the flute is the drone side of the flute (the one without the fingering holes.) The drone side of the flute has the ability to play the low and high octave of the flute's specific musical key.  Since 1990 High Spirits Flutes has been handcrafting flutes from single piece of wood. We have become adept at the process of choosing planks with natural beauty and turning them into incredible sounding flutes. When you choose one of our flutes we guarantee its high-quality sound, its flawless craftmanship, and one-of-a-kind characteristic of the unique piece of wood that it's crafted from. Our PRESERVATION COLLECTION was developed from our commitment to sustainability in the woodworking process, and our deep respect for the Earth's natural resources. Preservation flutes are different from our regular flute collection because of small imperfections like minor shaping inconsistencies, stone inlay variations, design prototypes, unique wood qualities, or other cosmetic differences, which don't meet the aesthetic perfection of our regular flute line but never compromise their excellent sound quality. Every flute in our Preservation Collection still meets our company's high-quality, American handcrafted, woodwind instrument guarantee, just at a deeply discounted value.
