I use a full 10-12 oz leather and I cut my belts at 1 1/2" standard belt width. This will allow the belt to fit through most all belt loops on mens pants, and because of its thickness, makes it an ideal belt for carrying tools or holsters as well. But, the leather's quality and appearance also makes it a fine choice
