We’ve found Heat Shrink Tubing to be the best solution for creating a long lasting durable label on climbing ropes. Included with the tubing is an adhesive label. All you need is a permanent marker and a heat gun. Why label your Ropes? “Soft equipment” (ropes, harnesses, lanyards, etc.) break down over time, even if they’re just sitting on the shelf. Labeling your ropes is a great way to keep track of how old it is. Labels will also help you identify which ropes go with which elements. We recommend writing the length of the rope on the label for future reference. Tips for labeling and heat shrinking your rope. Use a permanent marker on the label. The rope needs to be labeled with the year of manufacture, not the year it is put into service. Stick the label on the end of the rope and slide the tubing over it. Take care when shrinking the the tube with a heat gun (a low setting should suffice). The rope can be melted if too much heat is applied The heat shrink has been fully shrunk w
