Ribes rubrum 'Red Lake'

Red Lake Red Currant: Compact, mini-stemmed, deciduous, mounding, thornless shrub 3-5' tall. Glossy green, 3" wide lobed leaves that turn bright orange, red, and yellow, dropping early in the fall. In the spring, dangling clusters of greenish-yellow blooms form, followed by small red currant berries in the summer which ripen in July. They are a delicious tart fruit most commonly used in jellies and jams. Full sun to part sun. Heat, clay and sand tolerant. Medium water. Great in containers.
