Josep i Pau is a project exclusive to the Seattle area, with the Seattle importer Vin2U working directly with the Rosell Mir family to create these special wines. The history of the Mir family as grape growers in Catalonia goes back many centuries, the earliest document mentioning their viticulture dates back to September 1474.In 1979, Josep, now the 17th generation of the family, started making his own wine under his own label, thus helping to start a movement for higher quality and artisan grown wines that reflect the different vineyards and the unique style of the region.Today, Josep's son Pau is on board and together they continue the quality work.The estates are planted with Xarel-lo, Macabeu, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnatxa Blanca. In 2019, Josep and Pau released for the first time two semi-digested brut natures (Escumós at Castellan, they are not allowed to call their wines Cava due to DO regulations).
