Cascina Penna Currado, Langhe Nebbiolo 'Bricco Lago' 2023

Variety: Nebbiolo  After 35 years as winemakers at the Vietti winery located in the Castiglione Falleto zone of Barolo, Luca Currado and wife Elena Penna decided they were ready for a change. They wanted to focus on a smaller scale winery and make more artisanal style wine. Their kids are helping in the process though they are young. Luca spearheads the cellar while Elena takes care of the hospitality side of the business. The new project is very much about looking ahead and forging new beginnings which is reinstated on their labels.  Nestled in clay and limestone hills teeming with myriad biodiversity, these vines are harvested from a vineyard in Monforte d'Alba. Cold macerated and fermented whole berry (yet still destemmed), this 'baby barolo' sees 8-12 months of aging in barrel.
