The Deering Goodtime Special takes their standard open back design and adds a resonator and a tone ring, which produces a louder, more focused tone that works well for bluegrass. Like all Goodtime models, this banjo features a 3-ply maple rim. The tension hoop and the steel Goodtime Special Tone Rings are rolled and finished in-house at Deering’s workshop. The metal hardware has a satin bronze powder finish that is hypoallergenic and resists tarnishing. It features Art Deco inspired hardwood fretboard inlays and an Art Deco pattern engraved on the headstock.
