2018 Waterloo WL-12 Maple 12-Fret Acoustic Guitar - Used

Contrasting nicely from the mainstream Collings lineup, the Waterloo series of guitars are built as a tribute to a criminally overlooked era of American guitar manufacturing history. Inspired by the relatively obscure department store guitars of the 20’s and 30’s, these instruments feature ultra lightweight, supremely responsive bracing, and consequently delivers a sound that is noticeably more intimate than instruments built in the Martin/Gibson tradition. The WL-12, in particular, is a fantastic representation of what these instruments are about – a deceptively simple design, built with Collings’ exhaustive attention to detail. Featuring a wonderfully figured maple back/sides, the WL-12 has a pleasant, clear tone and outputs a surprisingly punchy tone from its small frame. The 12th fret neck design pushes the bridge closer to the center of the soundboard, and as a result, rounds a bit of the top end, giving it a tone that is a tad more mellow and full than a typical 14th fret guit
