2012 Collings MT Mandolin - Used
The basic MT model is where Collings mandolins begin in terms of pricing, but thankfully Collings offers a number of options that take it up a notch or two without making their basic A model too expensive. This example has a couple of our favorite upgrades: Ivoroid binding on the top edge, and an ebony pickguard with Ivoroid binding. The binding really sets off the dark sunburst, while the small pickguard gives the fingers on your right hand an anchor point and helps prevent wear to the finish from picks and fingernails. This MT has been played but fret wear is minimal. The satin lacquer on the back of the neck has been rubbed more glossy by the player's left hand. There is a small section where the finish has worn through to the wood near the edge of the top near the tailpiece. Because of the location, we suspect this was caused by insect repellent, which is notoriously unfriendly to lacquer finishes. Includes the original hardshell case.
