Guild's F-50 was one of the most expensive acoustic flattops in the mid-1960s, not far behind Gibson's J-200. Because they delivered a big acoustic voice and were predictably road-worthy, they were coveted by players in various styles and as a result, you often see them on album covers of the period and in live stage footage, and they were a staple of the folk-rock sound. For musicians who needed volume, especially if they were fingerpickers, Guild Jumbos like this one delivered that volume. Just give this guitar a strum and you'll quickly recognize what they were so popular, at least with those who could afford one. This example, from just before Guild moved from Hoboken NJ to Rhode Island, shows surface wear from use, but it's pretty much original throughout including the tuners, pickguard, and bridge. Note the clear pickguard added to the top above the low E string, which is about the only change. Frets are excellent, this is a big guitar but one that's easy to play.
