He holds a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from one of the oldest technical universities in the US. He is a scientist, who not only appreciates nature, but also has the knowledge to identify, understand and safely consume wild plants.  Mark, commonly referred to as “Merriwether," had a distinct advantage in foraging for wild foods and medicinal plants during his childhood due to his upbringing in an environment surrounded by natural resources. This gave him a comprehensive familiarity with edible plants that many adults never have the opportunity to learn.
