Piatti Family Italian Bean

(Phaseolus vulgaris); Heritage; a Michigan Connection variety; Pole bean; Dual use: snap and dry; Minimum 20 seeds An Iron Mountain Piatti family heirloom, this pole bean is a yooper bean, from the Upper Penisula of Michigan. Grandfather Maurizio introduced this bean to Ed Piatti in 1935 when together with Ed's father, the three of them gardened together in a city garden space. It is typically enjoyed both as a cooked snap bean and as a dry bean. Plants are strong climbers and productive until frost.
