Catena's Argentina was once recognized for its old-world style Cabernet Sauvignon from the clay-soils of Agrelo, even before the country gained recognition for its malbec. The family holds its historic Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards in Agrelo and Tupungato in high regard, valued for their long-lived nature and traditional flavors. This particular wine, Catena Alta Cabernet Sauvignon, is made from the grapes of Lot 3 from La Pirámide vineyard, Lot 2 from Domingo vineyard, and Lot 2 from Nicasia Vineyard, and is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Lot 3, La Piramide Vineyard, Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo (950m/3116ft). Aluvial origin. Clay topsoil with rounded rocks on the bottom. Plant selection: Selección Mendoza.
