
Fossil & Fawn Gewurztraminer Orange Wine
236 day skin-contact Gewurztraminer from Sunnyside Vineyard in the Willamette Valley AVA (soon to be South Salem Hills AVA, pending approval). The vines were planted in 1984 at 700 feet elevation in rocky, volcanic (Jory) soils. Fermented in concrete egg and aged in old oak. We were lucky to pick perfectly ripe grapes between rain showers. Fruit came from 3 7-year-old vines at Montinore Estate Vineyards and was allowed to macerate, on-skins, for 234 days in egg-shaped fermenters.
