Gum Mastic resin (Pistacia lentiscus var. Chia, also called mastiha) is imported directly from Chios, Greece, its only source. These are "first choice" grade "tears of Chios." Gum Mastic is a transparent, lemon-white colored, tear-shaped natural resin from the mastic tree, which grows only on the southern part of the island of Chios. They have been highly prized for centuries, and are only produced by a handful of villages. Mastic is the perfume of Gemini. When Geminis are sick, to be healed rapidly they must smell mastic every day. The Egyptians imported this popular incense as it was a key ingredient in their ancient "Kyphi" recipes.
