From late Hollywood Star's Anthony Quinn's personal collection! Authentic "gorgeous form" early 20th century West Africa, Burkina Faso, Mossi Tribe fertility doll. Dolls such as these were given to young Mossi girls as a toy doll but also to prepare her for motherhood. In addition, caring for such dolls was believed to promote fertility. Interestingly, Mossi dolls are typically carved by male blacksmiths. This figure crested coiffures with minimal facial features and incised lines throughout body.
