Extraordinary 19th Century Bronze censer (Incense Burner) -mark to base. Substantial antique dating from circa 1860's measures approx 16 7/8 inches tall (41.5 cm) and weighs approx 10 lbs 3.5 oz (4.6 kg). Piece made in three parts, stand, vessel, and lid. The lid displays Buddhist Lion atop floral decoration The censer has lifting handles on shape of Foo dog or Shi-Shi Lion (Buddhist Lion) finial for lifting. Pierced stand highlights intricate guiding of concentric linear designs. There are 6 Chinese character symbols on the bottom of vessel (see pics).
