1986 Fedoskino Signed Hand Painted Russian Lacquer Box Dancing In Village Square

Description: This is a beautiful large 1986 paper-mache  Russian Lacquer Box from the village of Fedoskino. This rectangular box has a hinged lid and a flat base with four small round feet to rest on. The top of the lid is decorated with a beautiful and very well executed hand painted scene depicting four women dancing on a circle in what we believe is the village square. There are musicians in the back ground. One is playing an accordion and another is playing mandolin or balalaika. There are people watching, three women and three men. There are houses in the background. The scene appears to be in the dusk with light sky and tree branches without leaves. The miniature painting is very well executed with gold, brilliant red, mother of pearl, silver colors. It is brilliant and beautiful. The box is marked in Cyrillic lettering with the word "Fedoskino 1986" in the bottom left hand corner of the image.
