Sunstone Faceted

9.5 mm round 2.78 carats Red orange sunstone from Oregon with a small amount of Shiller evident on the crown. Shiller is an optical phenomenon unique to sun stones. Small platelets of copper embedded in the crystal give the stone a small orange metallic sheen when rotated. Beautifully bright, reflective stone which I cut with an apex crown variation. This cut has no flat table and instead the crown ends in a shallow point. This gives the gemstone even more scintillation and interesting reflections. All round stones are not created equal! This stone is almost the top quality one can get from this mine location.
