She is serene and has a feeling of inner strength and knowing. Statues of this quality are becoming more and more difficult to find, as the older highly skilled carvers retire and the younger ones turn to easier work. This Patacara is hand carved from suar wood. Please read her 'story'. The Story Patacara's story began with passionate love and became one of great loss. She went out of her mind with grief, living on the street, mostly naked and ranting while people hurled stones at her. Upon meeting the Buddha, she prostrated at his feet in despair and describing her family tragedies. The Buddha talked with her, using Buddhist doctrines and Patacara immediately saw the nature of impermanence. She was transformed and committed her life to practice.
