A third-round draft choice of the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1970, Blount’s abilities were a major reason why the Steelers were the dominant team of the National Football League in the 1970s. Blount, who was named the NFL's most valuable defensive player in 1975 by the Associated Press, earned all-pro acclaim in 1975, 1976, 1977 and 1981.
