Also called "The Christmas Pear".  The fruit is round and short-necked, with greenish-yellow skin and red blush. Comice Pears have very soft flesh with a creamy texture and full of juice. Self-fruitful in arid West or plant with Bartlett. European pears are late-blooming, tolerant of heavy wet soils, and a good choice for many areas. USDA Zone 5-9, Requires 500-600 chill hours to set fruit. Protect when temperatures fall below -20°F.
