
Penguin Pitcher
A silver plated brass pitcher in the form of a penguin. This wonderful and whimsical water pitcher is very rare, and one of the most sought after pieces of barware made during the height of collectible barware, the roaring '20's through to the height of the Art Deco movement. The penguin was a much loved, and often seen bird in the barware scene during this period. They made appearances on napkins, stirrers, picks, openers and of course the very famous shaker by Emile Shulke. It is adorably rendered and has such a lovable appearance. It is not overly large, but large enough to fill around four glasses of water. It has a separately hinged pouring spout in the mouth, and hinged head to fill. It is exceptionally easy to use and clean, and a great decorative piece on its own. Much copied in cheap and poor ways, the original holds its own nearly a century on.
