They have a steel core, with a bronze alloy winding. Bronze wound strings are warm, compared to the brass (roller wound) and stainless-steel wound strings. They do tend to have more finger squeak, though, and they don't last as long as the stainless steel strings.  The tone and clarity you get with these strings is amazing and is sure to provide great feel as well.
